8 Ways You Can Make Money Online From Home

These days, everyone is at home a little bit more. Internet usage has soared, and so have the number of jobs and opportunities you can find online.

In fact, many people are creating online ‘side hustles’ to earn more money.

With more people working from home, and (for the time being) not much else you can do to occupy your time, the ‘make money online’ niche is seeing a bit of a boom.

This post will discuss different ways that you can earn money online from home and hopefully give you some ideas on how you can start getting some extra pocket (or beer…) money.

How can you make money online from home?

The short answer is actually quite simple – by selling something.

“But I don’t have anything to sell” – is the usual response, well that’s where affiliate marketing comes in. But we’ll get to that in a bit.

Here is a whistle stop tour of 8 ways that you can make money online from home…

1. Get A Done For You Home-Based Business

Ok technically you would need to buy into this (so this is costing you money at first), but… there are literally thousands of companies that will pay you to sell their products.

This includes everything from nutrition bars to certain household items.

Remember when your mate from school started filling your Facebook feed with posts about some health supplement or other? Well, that’s what that was…

2. Become A ‘Gig’ Freelancer

Technically this is still selling something – your time (and some would argue, your soul…).

With sites like Fiverr and Upwork, it’s never been easier to turn that hobby or skill into a side hustle that will earn you some extra money each month.

This could be anything from copy writing, design work, video work, virtual assistant work – basically anything that could be delivered through a website/online.

If you start getting good reviews for your work, the orders can really start stacking up and you can make some serious money.

Fulltime ‘real’ Freelancers have some pretty strong views about this, as people doing ‘gig work’ will often sell their services way too cheap (especially on Fiverr).

This creates a ‘race to the bottom’ effect, that many argue massively devalue skills in the marketplace.

Who knows? Maybe they’re right – but at the end of the day, it is a great way to start a side hustle and get the money coming in.

BTW – if you want a video ad to promote your affiliate offer check out this gig.

3. Dropshipping

Dropshipping is exactly what it says on the tin: you purchase an item from someone else (in this case, a company) and then you ship the item out to your customer.

Some people make a lot of money Dropshipping, but if you’re new to it, the learning curve is high.

It could take a while before you make any decent money and there will be an outlay to get all setup.

If you fancy trying your hand at it, head over to sites like Alibaba and see what they have to offer – all those weird and wonderful products you see Facebook ads for, that’s where the come from 🙂

4. Taking Surveys and Quizzes

There are tons of surveys and quizzes online that pay you to complete them.

Depending on your experience, qualifications, and up-to-dateness with current technology, some of these can earn you money each month.

This is an especially good option if you’re just starting out, and are looking for some seriously easy money!

However, don’t expect to quit your day job with this method unless you’re going to do a LOT of surveys every day.

5. Create and sell your own (physical) products online

Again, the internet has made it easier than ever to turn your hobby into an income stream.

If you’ve got some craft skills, head over to Etsy.

Etsy is a website filled with individual shops and is the go-to place when you’re looking for that personal touch item.

You can buy (and therefore sell) anything from jewellery to art and limited edition clothing.

Etsy is a great place to sell your crafts and you can find a huge range of things on there.

If you can make it, you can sell it.

6. Selling your own digital products online

If you know a lot about a subject, why not create a digital course and sell it? This is the easiest digital product to sell online.

There are literally thousands of digital courses for sale all over the place and most of them will provide you with a huge profit if they do well.

It’s important to note that this method involves finding some customers, so it’s not quite passive income.

You will need to get some skills in marketing (but hey lots of people have created courses you can buy about that 😉 ).

However, if you have the skills, patience and persistence, you can make some decent money.

It doesn’t have to be an epic production either, just some videos or even an ebook can be knocked up pretty quickly even using basic tools like PowerPoint and even a mobile phone to record yourself.

And now you could even set up and sell your digital product for free on Groove sell.

7. Create a YouTube channel, and become famous!

Well, maybe not famous. But if you do manage to create a successful YouTube channel, you can earn money advertising revenue and a lot of people are making money online this way.

In order to get into the YouTube monetisation program, you will need to have a channel with 10,000 hours of total video watch time over the past year and 1,000 subscribers.

If you can reach these numbers, YouTube will allow ads to show on your videos – and you will get a percentage of the advertising revenue.

Don’t get me wrong, you will need a HUGE channel to make a lot of money this way, but it’s free to set up a YouTube channel, so why not try? You might be the next big thing!

8. Affiliate marketing (Selling other people’s products for a commission)

Affiliate marketing is, put simply, advertising other people’s products for a commission.

You promote the product and if someone buys it from you (or through your link) – you earn a commission.

Products can be anything from makeup, health supplements, digital courses and software.

Amazon even has an affiliate program – which means you could sell pretty much anything you can imagine.

So it doesn’t matter what niche you’re in, there will be an affiliate program for you.

Perhaps the most appealing things about affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to own (or front the money for) any products or worry about customer service. That’s all down to the product owner.

All you need to do is promote them.

You can promote affiliate products in all sorts of ways, from having a blog, posting on social media, running paid advertising – the list goes on.

In fact, this is such a huge subject, I’ve made a post about this you can check out here.
